Death and life or gratitude and undervalued are two sides of the same coin. Counter opposites indeed. This message is very straightforward. It’s a very simple quote that can be applied to every aspect of our lives and it’s all because all of us, at a certain point in time, have taken everything for granted. We take our friends, our families, our relationships, our material possessions for granted. We take things for granted because we don’t recognize the true value of things until they are gone. For example, we don’t realize how fortunate we are that we have healthy functioning legs and it’s not because we don’t appreciate our legs but because we know they are there and that we will wake up the next day with our legs still attached. We develop a sense of reliability and take everything for granted. Every single person has taken something for granted whether it be a friend, an item or even a relationship and after we have taken something for granted and the action becomes irreversible, the feeling of regret starts to seep in and we begin to wish we could have another chance or rewind time to fix our mistakes. Its seems to be one big cycle doesn’t it? Obtain-> Undervalue-> Regret. One distinguishing feature about regret is that it is a feeling you won’t experience until it’s already too late. There are a few characters from movies that can help us better understand the feeling of regret. Take Marvel’s Thor, he was an entitled, proud and stubborn god. It was not until his powers were stripped for him did he learn his lesson and although he was eventually given his powers back at the end of the movie, he could have avoided all of this if he was more grateful and Understanding. Another character that could relate to this is Kim Boggs from the Edward Scissorhands movie. Kim took an interest in Edward Scissorhands after he started staying with her and her mom. Although Kim loved Edward she decided to throw away their relationship due to the fact that she did not want to be ridiculed by her society. In a sense, Kim threw away her happiness for validation from her community. She very much lived to regret this decision. In both instances, the character had to lose what they held dear before they realized or understood the value of what they lost which is why we are encouraging you, as an individual to try and be grateful and appreciative of what you have before it becomes a thing of the past because when one is/was grateful for something they once had or grateful towards someone they will have nothing to regret. |
