This quote is conveying figuratively and literally that when an individual works in a team with the other members, they have to work as a whole to achieve their objective. This is indicated in the figurative way by saying that if you have any idea, objection, agreement or anything to add to your team, you should not refer to it with “I”, as in a group every member is putting their part to contribute to the team’s advancement towards the objective. All the members work as a whole therefore you have to respect and be open-minded to everyone’s ideas and opinions. Also, one member is not responsible for completing or presenting the group’s work as everyone is supposed to be involved. It is usually the people who finds it hardest to work with others that ends up failing miserably. Everyone has been in a position where they didn’t exactly agree with a group member’s opinion, however sooner or later you most likely came to the conclusion that for your group to move forward, you will need to put aside personal opinions and think about the group. It is alright to be enthusiastic or take charge when tasked with an activity that requires several people to work together to complete; however, do not let your enthusiasm undermine or stop someone else from trying to contribute to the group.
