- Set high goals for yourself
- Be ambitious
- Be comitted to your goal
This quote has to do with ambitions and goal setting. The quote is telling us that if we set high generally unrealistic goals we may fail but we will fail above others' success. This works in the sense that everyone else set realistic goals and achieved them but you failed to achieve your unrealistic goals and ended up failing above them which to them, might be a success. To put this in a scenario, everyone is asked to set a goal for the rank they want to achieve in the military in 1 year. Everyone wants to be a Corporal after one year but you want to be a Sergeant Major after one year. You and everyone else work towards their goals and, after one year everyone has achieved the rank of Corporal but you have only achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. This may be disheartening to you but to everyone else you have succeeded because even though you did not achieve your desired rank you surpassed everyone else’s rank. This is what the quote means by failing above everyone’s success.
